Entrepreneurial leadership... in their own words

CLI’s training focuses on teaching talented Congolese youth to reach their goals and create a bright future for their country. Our methodology is focused on entrepreneurial leadership: The skills to start something from nothing combined with the courage to try. What does this mean in practice? Here is what CLI alum Justin Mugabe had to say:

“There are actually so many things that I learned from CLI, but here is the most important: How to draft a project… I remember that when I joined the CLI program, I never knew that I could solve challenges even without funding initially… CLI taught us how to draft a project, but also how to be a good leader in order to be able to raise funds and then reach the goal. So one of the things that I did actually as a result of the training, in 2013, was that I gathered a group of 20 young people in order to go build a market in the territory of Rutshuru.”

Justin is now a successful entrepreneur in Goma and we are proud to count him as an alum.

PS: Justin shared these insights with us during a recent digital event in which we connected CLI supporters around the world with our alumni in the DRC. Want to attend future events? Sign up for our newsletter to stay informed: Newsletter Signup.
